Why name it blog2

Hi, I'm Dragy Devi. I prefer to go by Devi.

This blog is about me mostly. What sort of work I do, or communities I participate in, or general public activities I engage with.
I'm not really a writer. I typically struggle to put words together into sentences that are coherent. Part of me hopes that with time and practice, I can become that person.

But why name it blog2? At my day job, I work as a platform engineer. Our massive infrastructure as code pipeline is, in my professional opinion, a mess. It deploys too many resources, it touches too many permissions, and relies on too many governance teams to make it work properly. And it never works properly.

When I joined the team in 2025, my pet peeve issue with the whole system was that instead of naming the pipeline correctly, after they remade it, they slapped a 2 and the end of it: Pipeline2. It was sloppy. It was frustrating that they didn't want to spend the time actually renaming it to something that made sense.

But now, every time I have to go find the damn thing in the sea of other pipelines, I kind of appreciate it. I type in Pipeline2 and its the only thing that pops up. Everything else is named properly and I can never find anything. Yet I can always find Pipeline2. Its kind of brilliant in a dumb way.

I hope to channel some of that brilliance into this blog. Or at least, I'll be able to find it later when I have to renew my domain.
